Herd for the Homeless

“Herd for the Homeless,” is a community volunteer event hosted by the MU Alumni Association. The event will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church on November 5th from 9 AM to 2 PM.

Volunteers are needed from:

9-11 AM to help with setting up, sorting coat donations, and serving breakfast at the street ministry.

11 AM to 1 PM to assist with serving a tailgate style luncheon to Huntington’s homeless community and distributing coats and winter items.

1-2 PM for preparing the excess coats for transport to our partnering agencies and cleaning up the dining hall.

Additional ways to help:

HOST a coat drive and/or drop off new or gently loved coats for men, women, & kids.

COLLECT or DONATE gloves, socks, and peanut butter

SPONSOR 300 dessert portions or an item to give away at the event.

The coats and winter items that aren’t distributed the day of the event will be divided among our partnering agencies, the Huntington City Mission, Harmony House, and Cridlin Food & Clothing Pantry. The peanut butter will be donated to stock the Facing Hunger Foodbank.

Herd for the Homeless is a wonderful opportunity for individuals and groups to make an impact and experience the rewarding feeling that come from helping others.

WE ARE answering the call to serve; will you please join us?

Our Summer Camp Program is Shaping Young Lives

Recently we asked you to support our Summer Camp; the following is a recap of what you helped us accomplish:

  • 56 kids attended the 6 week day camp
  • 8 kids gave their lives to Christ
  • 56 kids now have a Bible
  • 56 kids got to go swimming and roller skating; they got to go to Billy Bob’s, and Pump up the Fun, and they got to learn about Jesus.

Thank you! Without your prayers and financial support, our Summer Camp Program couldn’t happen!

White Flag Flying at City Mission

Our white flag is flying-cold weather policy in effect! When the outside temp is at or below 40 degrees we fly the white flag, a sign to the homeless community that everyone is welcome to come in from the cold! We will not turn anyone away! Please join us in praying for the homeless community, that everyone will seek shelter!

Happy New Year!

As we ring in 2016, we just want to thank all of our supporters, businesses, friends, churches and others who have kept us in your prayers, given time, money and in-kind donations to help the Huntington City Mission. We are blessed to have the community help us continue to help those who are homeless or at-risk. We are excited for a new year to begin and to continue our mission. God Bless you all!
